I don't know about strawberries, but I know that doesn't work for  
peaches. I would have been happy to let the birds have some of the  
peaches when I had a peach tree, but they tended to take a peck out  
of one peach and then move onto the next one. That's not sharing  
that's pilfering or vandalism.

I like the suggestions that people have made about using various  
nets, but that isn't all that practical for a peach tree.

... And a shotgun doesn't leave much squirrel left to replace the  
stolen peaches. It also tends to annoy the neighbors when you are in  
suburbia. :-)
