[Sca-cooks] OT - Anyone here live near Ithaca, New York?

Having been laid off several weeks ago, when my company shut down the
program I was on, I've been looking at various job possibilities. One
of the strongest possibilities so far is a design center for a disk
drive system company (Xyratex) located in Ithaca, New York.

I originally had no intention of moving, and I'm still not sure I
want to. There are a lot of reasons to stay here in Austin. However,
my policy is to keep an open mind on such things. But, I've never
lived anywhere but Dallas or Austin, Texas.

So if there is anyone one this list who has lived near or now lives
near Ithaca, New York, I'd love to get your impressions of the place
off list. I've heard they have that white stuff called snow there and
that it gets cold, although not like Buffalo and places to the west a
bit. I'm not sure if I want to deal with all that but who knows,
perhaps it would be worth it. It would certainly be a change.

Although not a prime concern, it would also be nice to know what sort
of SCA groups and culture is in that area.

Thanks,
   Stefan
PS: For those who might be wondering, the job market looks a lot
better than it did a year ago. One article I read today says
increasing numbers of people are fed up with where they currently
are, and are leaving for other opportunities. The article said it was
becoming an employees market, but they don't know how long this will
last.
