I stand corrected. I remembered the bit about Laura and Charles sitting 
together twisting up stalks for fuel, but somehow got it in my head that it 
was corn stalks. I haven't read that book in probably 30 years--it was 
depressing, wasn't it?

I really need a new set of those books, though. I loved them.
