I went in search of real newspapers this am and came across
the latest mystery by Joan Hess. It's titled Damsels in Distress.
It's out in hardcover this month and features her character Claire Malloy.
The dust jacket caught my attention so I had pick it up and see what it
was about.
It concerns nasty doings at a Renn Faire being run by
ARSE which has a local chapter on the campus.
"And how does it all relate to the very singular members of the
local chapter of The Association for Renaissance Scholarship and
Enlightenment (ARSE)?"

“What’s ARSE?” I asked.
“The Association for Renaissance Scholarship and Enlightenment. It’s not
a bunch of academics who meet once a year to read dry papers and argue
about royal lineage or the feudal system. Anybody can join. The country
is divided into kingdoms, counties, and fiefdoms. The local group is
Avalon. There are just a few members in town this summer, but when the
semester starts in September,..."
