I'm well aware of the cost of this book. That's why i said that it 
was "in the "A Soup for the Qan" price range", and why i included the 
URL to Brill's page for the book. I certainly appreciate your 
application of your miraculous librarian skills in digging up more 
info :-)

As for a couple weeks of rice and lentils, i have around $100 to 
spend on books this month. It's just that extra $95 i'll have to make 
up for by eating cheap.

But there are plenty of good Medieval Middle Eastern recipes for 
beans - or other pulses (e.g., favas, chickpeas, black-eyed peas, 
etc.) - and lentils, and probably some good ones in that book :-)
