[Sca-cooks] Shortbread in Period?

Greetings!  It's always been my understanding that shortbread as we know it was an OOP recipe - from the 1700s?  (Rice flour does indeed make an excellent addition to the regular wheat flour.)  I would love to see documentation of a pre-1615 recipe for something that when made tastes like and acts like "our" shortbread but until something appears, I would believe that it is, unfortunately, OOP.
