[Sca-cooks] listing of ingredients...

Here in the Shire of Rokeclif, Kingdom of Northshield, we always publish
our feast menu, including ingredients (without amounts) so those with
various food allergies can avoid certain dishes. You don't need to put
your recipe online, although I feel sharing is the most important part
of the SCA so I do, but the ingredients are good. Ever hear of people
being allergic to pepper? I personally know 6 people that are, one of
them so much so that a single shake of pepper in a stew will send her to
the hospital.

Think of those eating. You apparently are allergic to Strawberries, but
what if someone used strawberry extract in a dish and didn't tell you?
You wouldn't know it was in there and could have a problem, right? Or
those that are allergic to Peanuts. Even frying something in peanut oil
without telling them would be a big problem.

We have 100 people enjoying our feast later this year, and rather than
field up to 100 emails about allergy concerns, I would just rather put
it out there for all to see. :) Again, I like to share my research and
cooking knowledge, so actual recipes will be available. :)

I talked her out of that...then she said that she wanted me to post ALL of my ingredients on the website. I told her that I wasn't sure that I wanted to do that either. I felt that my menu and a link to ask me any question or voice any dietary or allergy concerns. She still wants me to post the ingredient list at the event. She said that she had seen this done in the North all the time. I don't know...I'm a southern girl and have only played in Ansteorra, Glenn Ahbann, and Meridies.

These are things that I concern myself with, I have never gone to the feast steward and told them..hey don't put...I don't know...um...cheese in anything cause I might die.
