[Sca-cooks] Medieval Chili

Well, I did say that it wasn't period, however, some of the ingredients
were used in period, but probably not THAT recipe. Your response (and
blog comment) have given me some great ideas. I have made chili with
chunks of beef or pork instead of ground meat, so I could certainly do
that. I thought it would be fun to use chili peppers, period or not, but
now that I think about it, all those people full of chili peppers
camping so close together, hmm, probably not a good idea. :)

And beef stock, well, I have A LOT of that stuff around and can easily
make more. Store bought stock just doesn't do it for me. However, I make
my stock by boiling beef or pork roasts in garlic, onion and mace. I use
the meat to make BBQ's (not period) and keep the stock for other recipes.

So, thanks Gunthar, I will try what you have suggested. I hadn't thought
of using fava beans in place of the pinto beans, but then again I just
started researching this about 10 minutes ago. :)
