General Lee, my feral adoption (actually Cogburn, my rooster,
initially adopted him, but I convinced him that cat food tastes better
than chicken feed ;-) will deliberately expose his belly to me,
wanting petted and his tummy rubbed, yet on some critter site or
another, they're saying that when a cat does that, they're expressing
their trust, but if you touch them, you're betraying that trust.

I dunno, but I do know he won't move except to expose a spot that may
be hidden when I'm giving him a belly rub, and will lie there at least
as long as I continue, unless there's a sudden loud noise. Same is
true of my other cats, although they're not quite as extreme about
insisting on a belly rub ;-) He's been known to wake me up out of a
sound sleep, and flop to get his belly rubbed, and I strongly suspect
he knows what he wants more than the "experts" do.

Then she would roll over and expose her tummy WITHOUT changing her overall ball shape and size.? Sigh - I miss her so much. The baby Siameses (2!)?I have now do not hold still for much petting yet. Or meditation.
