<<< Unless she's talking about one of those sushi bars where the
sushi is loaded
onto either a moving belt or water trough...I ate at one of those in San
Francisco's Japan Town, where the sushi dishes were placed onto
little boats
that floated around in front of you. Kind of like dim sum in that
your bill
was calculated based on the number and color of the plates you
collect. >>>
Interesting. Also sounds like it could get expensive, real quick. I
assume they explain the color and price scheme when you first sit
down. Still, it reminds me of why I don't like cafeterias. I hate to
get half-way down the line and then realize I really want what I'm
now seeing rather than the item(s) I picked up earlier. Or that my
total is a lot more than I expected because I want that, and that,
and that. Probably also made worse because with my eyesight I can
seldom read the menu (if one) at the start of the line.
Are these sushi boats labeled with what is on them? Or do you pick
items based more on what they look like and what they might be, than
knowing what they actually are? I can understand that there might be
a considerable difference in price between different sushi items,
depending upon what is in them. Fresh tuna vs. something else etc.
Since my wife abhors even the idea of sushi, the only sushi I've had
was at a relatives or a buffets where it is one price for everything.
