Well, technically, yes, there's more to this list than medieval food  
discussion, as far as I know, after being on this list for ten years  
or thereabouts. What most of us have in common is that we're SCA  
members with an interest in cookery, but not all of the cookery we  
discuss is historical, let alone period, and some of what we discuss  
is not directly related to cookery, but may be related to life in the  
SCA.

Or Twinkies. Or pirates. Although we generally try to keep the really  
off-topic stuff to a minimum, or at least label it in the subject  
line so people know it's an out-of-period or off-topic thread,  
sometimes in the heat of the moment we forget. Of course, we still  
should try to keep things reasonably on topic.
