Avocado is specifically New World, as are "wild rice" (Zazania aquatica) and 
maple syrup.  Cashews are New World.

Catfish and quail are both New and Old World.

You are probably thinking of amaranth (pigweed) as being the grain, but 
varieties are found in Africa and America.
