Totally correct.
If you overfill the pot with oil and are doing it in the garage then  
fire is totally an option.
I have even seen people put CARDBOARD down so the driveway won't get  
oil on it! HELLO! Cardboard is flammable! Would you put it in your oven?
You need to be careful, REALLY careful, but the bird is soooooooo  
delicious.
And the next day or on the weekend you have all this oil to deep fry  
salmon and oysters and shrimp and scallops and all sorts of things!!
