My friend's husband decided to prepare a deep fried turkey
a few years back. The guy is an MD and something of a gourmet,
and also a know it all who wouldn't think about reading the instructions or
the suggestions. He sets up the cooker on the new slate patio around
their pool.
Puts the oil in and proceeds to heat it up. Carefully puts in the thawed
and
cajun injected spiced turkey and of course the oil bubbles up and overflows
the stockpot and spills out on the new slate patio.
My friend commented that somehow or other the theory of displacement
had eluded him until that moment. Best damn turkey, she said, they ever had.
And the replacement patio only ran a grand or two.
