[Sca-cooks] Manchet Size/Weight

The weights and measures used in the United States are derived from the 
English standards of Elizabeth's time.  There have been some changes over 
time but the ounce in question should be the same.  The British Imperial 
System is an artifact of the early 19th Century.

BTW, the U.S. uses the Winchester bushel/
