Are there written plans? I can't be the only one who would love to see
these, and/or buy one eventually.

As Phlip pointed to, there are various plans for these out on the net.
They aren't particularly period, but they are of wood and are fairly
easy to make out of sheets of plywood.
There are also some more references in the HOME, SWEET HOME section of
the Florilegium. I've also got one or two more good files that I've
still got to get online, as well.
