Posts like this make me realize that I have only scratched the surface of food history. AND that is good thing for me.

Subject: [Sca-cooks] Books on sugar sculptures
Since this list has been quiet, I thought I would share what
I located yesterday through the Internet Archive.

The 1587 Beschreibung derer Fürstlicher Güligscher &c. Hochzeit volume is rather interesting as it contains engravings by
by Franz Hogenberg who was a noted illustrator of maps and city scenes. In this book, he does engravings for a 1585 wedding.

page n67 shows a credenza to the left of the foldout page.
page n71 is the table with all the subtleties.
It's the easy pictorial documentation for late 16th century table subtleties!
Ivan Day used the illustration in his book Royal Sugar Sculpture.
(The Sugar Museum in Berlin used to feature the image but it's been removed in their
latest revamping of the website.)
This was all posted yesterday to the SCA Subtleties list. My apologies if you see it twice.
