My husband is allergic to beets, when I cook them, even the smell 
drives him from the house.  But they are one of my favorite 
vegetables.  I even liked the pathetic canned beets so common in 
salad bars, but when beets are cooked whole, then peeled and sliced, 
they are spectacular.
