Hullo, the list!
I'm taking a break from the annual Rendering Unto Caesar (this year
they'll owe us, big time, hence the early filing), and I've just been
out on the balcony with caffeine and my daily El Ropo (OK, a Sol
Cubano Connecticut-wrapped), enjoying the sun and watching the world
go by. It's a balmy 19F, -7.2C here in Queens. While I'm not normally
one to attract statistically rare accidents, I did manage to get my
hand briefly stuck to the iron balcony rail, like the kid in the Jean
Shepherd story who gets his tongue stuck to the lamppost (or was it a
railroad track?)
So, I was already in a Drakey state of mind when I came back inside,
to find waiting for me photos sent me by a friend, who has relatives
in Adelaide, where it is expected to go up to 92F, 33C, and where a
koala had just strolled up to a family's back porch, looking for a
drink, and when presented with a pail of cool water, dove right in.
So, who's got recipes for a nice chilled fruit or cucumber soup, maybe
a cold poached fish in a vinegar sauce? My current project seems to be
centering on joutes with boiled bacon, which is probably more
appropriate for here...
Adamantius
"Most men worry about their own bellies, and other people's souls,
when we all ought to worry about our own souls, and other people's
bellies."
