[Sca-cooks] duck sauce?

Okay, what is "duck sauce"? Is this sauce made from duck liver or  
some part of a duck? Or is this a sauce to be served on duck?
If the latter, what is it made of, and is it Chinese or like say,  
fortune cookies, more of an American product? Why is it connected  
with duck?
