I try to purchase only Spanish saffron, for personal reasons, and these are some of the sources I have used in the past with good results.
http://www.olivenation.com/item-159/Pure-La-Mancha-Spanish-Saffron had 1 oz for $129.00
http://www.qualityspices.com/index.php?id=102&tx_ttproducts_pi1%5Bmfc%5D=20 had 1 oz for $89.00
http://www.amazon.com/Saffron-Threads-Oz-Tin-Each/dp/B000RHXKWQ/ref=sr_1_51?ie=UTF8&s=grocery&qid=1256735140&sr=1-51 has 1 oz for $118.00
The stuff on saffron.com is Iranian at $149.95 an oz.

But Saffron.com (or theposter.com same site) has the best price.
And I can also order some dried chanterelles for the Chanterelle Mousseline
for New Years and three types of vanilla.
Now if I can find a good price on Truffles, Fois and lobster I will have New
Year's under control!
