I am proud to announce that yesterday at Harvest Days in the Canton of Winged Hills (Midrealm), my apprentice Giles fitz Alan was placed on vigil and elevated to the order of the Laurel for cooking, preserving and cheesemaking. I'm a very proud Mum. I also had the honor of seeing a member of my Barony (Konrad Mailander) raised to the order of the Pelican.
The vigil hospitality tent and tables were loaned to us by Master Phil the Pilgrim. The vigil luncheon was shared between the two vigilants (because there is only one of me). Many people worked hard to present some of the best food seen on a vigil table for a long time. In no particular order below the dishes provided (to the best of my recollection) and the persons providing them were:
Master Giles fitz Alan - Five types of cheese, salt pork, salted and smoked beef, sauerkraut, Lombard mustard (he was conned into providing food for his own vigil, under the guise of helping me with Konrads).
Lady Faolainn - Pirozchis - a meat stuffed pastry
Mistress Hauviette d'Anjou - Hungarian apple tart from Rumpolt, a cabbage dish from Rumpolt
Lady Aasa - nut rolls from Welserin, cucumber salad from Welserin
Master Llewellyn - Cold spiced pork
THL Wulfwen atte Belle - White head salad, rumpolt (?)
THL Avelyn Grene - Strawberry tart (rumpolt) with wafers and snowe
Mistress Helewyse de Birkestad - Bratwurst from Welserin, sauerkraut, bread rolls, rice tart (from 16th C england)
Each vigilant recieved well over 40 visitors each, the management of the lists and tables would not have been possible without the help of Lady Cerridwen verch Ioreword, Faolainn, House von Brandenburg, and gentles from the Barony of Brendoken.
My eternal thanks to all who assisted with the set up, tear down, maintenance and running of the vigil tents. And to all those who helped, processed and made the whole day work.

Happy happy Mum,
Helewyse de Birkestad, OL, Baroness of Red Spears.
