I would suspect a lot of what you can get for your money is based on locality. 5 
years ago, when I brought my protoge to Northern California, she was amazed as 
to how cheap the produce was in one of the local grocery stores (as opposed to 
Northeastern PA) and her comment was "No wonder you can do feasts for so cheap 
here."

On the flip side, one of the gentlemen in my Barony (in Northeaster PA) goes 
hunting every year and I can get the venison donated for feasts.

Good Lady, if you are serving fysh in paste and venison sausage on a $6 
ticket - I want to go shopping with you!  Or are you hunting and fishing 
for the main courses?  :-)

I used to make a fine "twice poached salmon" until my fisherman lost 
touch with me.  I suspect he got caught.  :-(
