I'm actually curious at trying this Lent challenge, but I'm having trouble finding sources for Lent-banned food for the 14th Century. Can anyone offer assistance?

I do not, nor am I planning on making them for my one-hour history class.
In fact, I'm gonna buy the frozen pancakes too (I know, the horror!). Since
the pancakes are mostly going to be used by tweens to run across the room
while flipping them, I figure they don't have to be of a really high
quality. :)

I will be making everything else on the menu, including the almond milk and
cheese.

Do you have a period pretzel recipe?

I ask because there's an Italian recipe that I think is either pretzels or
bagels, both of which are boiled and then baked, and a comparison with a
period pretzel recipe might help me figure out which it is.
