Ahhh, yes, the house........

Ok, here is one that has us wondering about the name.  This is from a box that has on the inside top, a date of 1920, when Gabrielle googled the name she got a different spelling of; Coolidge, as in president Calvin Coolidge.  Makes me wonder if it is a spelling error, or?  Other than that it is a regular cake as far as I can see, but anybody have any ideas?

Cooligev Cake
1 cup sugar                              2 eggs well beaten
4 tablespoon softened butter     2/3 teaspoon soda
1 cup sour milk                        5 teaspoon coco
1 teaspoon vanilla                    1 1/2 cup cake flour
Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar thorughly, add well beaten egg yolks, flavoring.  Alternate sifted dry ingrediants with liquid.  To stiffly beaten egg whites, add remaning 1/2 cup sugar gradually, then fold into cake batter.  Pour into 8x8x2 loaf pan and bake in 350 F. oven four abour 30 to 40 min.  Cut in squares and serve with whipped cream and bananas or chocolate sauce, or use favorite frosting.

Mirianna, aren't you trying to clean out your house?? Really though, what
a great find. The old clippings and recipe boxes are so full of wonderful
things that have gone out of fashion now. They tend not to be in cookbooks
and often reflect the local and ethnic backgrounds of the owners as well.
What fun! You should post anything really off the wall or interesting for
us here once in a while. Mirhaxa
