By  the way, though I didn't look at this here, the fasiolus - whatever it 
actually  was - does not seem to have popped up so far in any digs (which of 
course would  go a long way towards settling exactly what the term referred 
to). Charlemagne  wanted them planted on his estates, but that and 
Anthimus' look at them in the  sixth century are about it for France.
 
Go figure.
