Part of the problem may be in the words "free redactions"!

Might I suggest taking a look at the Prospect Books edition of Apicius.

Loan or borrow it from a library. Also worth seeking out is another volume by Prospect Books titled Cooking Apicius by Sally Grainger.

Google Books is a nice source but sometimes one has to and ought to spend the $$$ and obtain the books. Or jump through the hoops and interlibrary loan them in. Google Books is not a substitute for research with the volumes in hand.
