I don't know which is stranger - that somebody tried to write as  
comprehensive a work as they could on birds, or that what appear to be two  Italians 
decided to translate it into English.
 
Whatever the case, the work includes translations of Pseudo-Apicius'  
recipes for various birds - starting on page 359 - as well as recipes by  others:
