[Sca-cooks] Grog was made from local and imported ingredients

They actually mean grog.  The term is used to refer to a single type of 
liquor mixed with a non-alcoholic liquid and spiced, served hot or cold.  A 
recipe for traditional grog is a double shot of rum, 1/2 shot of lime juice, 
5 grams sugar, 4 shots of hot water, a slice of orange and a cinnamon stick. 
Apple grog uses apple liquor and sweet cider.  Grog differs from glogg (mit 
the umlaut) as the latter is mulled wine.  The manner of building the drink 
differentiates it from other mixed drinks and cocktails.

In this particular case, I think the word is being used to convey the idea 
of alcohol with spices and other ingredients rather than as a reference to s 
specific drink.
