How do they die? Do they dry up and then die? Do the leaves get brown around
the edges? Do they turn yellow or bleached-looking and then die? We need
more details to diagnose cause of death.

I have installed two window boxes in my laundry room where I have plenty of
sunlight and fresh air. Two herbs have died on me. The first is mint and the
second is sage.
Mint on my balcony in Madrid and that in my father's garden outside never
died. It snowed every winter at my father's. 
Why does my mint die here?
