I would suggest actually getting your hands on several different brands and styles before purchasing - I mean literally holding them.  I have shortish fingers, and many manufactured tools, including knives, do not fit my hand comfortably.  A good fit is crucial for good cutting and safety.  For me, Forschner was the best fit, and it has made a world of difference.  Do a little research and find out what is best for you.
