[Sca-cooks] General Delivery

I would heartily recommend AGAINST using General Delivery in this, or any
circumstances where you're shipping something of value.

First of all, if you don't pick it up in three days, back it goes to the
sender--at the slowest possible speed. This could be a problem if they
have your needful camping gear!

Second, it all tends to go in a big bin. If they don't find it, well,
obviously they didn't get it, and you could be out of luck. I honestly
don't know of GD will even accept packages.

And third, I believe there's no way to ensure or insure your delivery. You
might do better, especially if needing to send bulk items, to see what UPS
or one of the other package delivery services can do for you.

Caveats: I do not work for the USPS or any other package delivery
service. I just work for an agency that has a lot of clients that use
General Delivery, often to their dismay when we sent something they needed,
and they never got it.

General Delivery is for people without a permanent mailing address, so it
might apply in this situation. You need to check with the post office to
see if there are any restrictions. The last time I used GD was 40 years ago
when I came out of Alaska.

I've used the USPS to ship luggage and purchases home when flying, so it
might work for the outbound leg.
