[Sca-cooks] Table Condiments

In England (and perhaps elsewhere), salt. At least one book of manners
instructs the diner not to dip meat in the common salt dish, but to take
some neatly on the flat of their knife and put it on the corner of their
trencher. Treatises on serving and carving should have details about what
goes on the table when it is set.
