Sandhills USED to be endangered. They almost blinked out, the Greaters, in the 1940’s, getting down to around 1000 individuals. They are now back up to 100K! The lesser are in quite good shape with ca. 450K population. MUCH more on subspecies and territories at the Wiki page.
