That one little accent mark can and does make a world of difference:
_kem{e'}ny_ 'hard' is ancient Finno-Ugric, _k{e'}m{e'}ny_ 'chimney' is
from German _Kamin_ 'stove'.
(Apologies to those who don't find language as fascinating as I do.)
