Hi Þórfinn!

I agree that 大豆 normally means soybeans. Have you gotten a copy of the Middle Chinese Dictionary which I recall the University of Hawai’i putting out recently? I have a copy around here somewhere. I am a certified bibliomaniac. That is one of my biggest vices. Regardless, the dictionary is pretty spiffy even if the readings do not sound like Chinese.
