Lecture details:
The ability to be master of one’s life and to order one’s day was a luxury enjoyed by only a very few in the Middle Ages. A book of hours placed a calendar and a guide to religious devotion (divided into the major hours of each day) in the hands of the wealthy, and—with the aid of detailed miniature paintings of colored pigments and burnished gold leaf—helped them plan their day, their month, and their year, while keeping their attention firmly on the sacred calendar. Discover the richness of this exquisite art and learn fascinating details about the production of these prodigiously expensive volumes.

Mr. Bolton is in Houston for the Texas Medievalist Conference at UofHouston this coming weekend 11/12-11/13:

Perhaps some of you scribes will be able to attend the lecture,
Cheers, Hillary
