Talan Gwynek, I think it was, reminded me that Leo / Leon was a
personal name, so (e.g.) Campoleone might have been just "Leon's
field".  I dunno off the top of my head if people took other animal
names in Spanish.  It's certainly not impossible: there's Bjorn,
"bear", in Norse-like languages.
