Hello All,
With all of this discussion about lions, has anyone mentioned multiple
lions on the arms? How about lions in the same position as those on
the royal arms of England? (I don't know the heraldic terminology.) I
must say that I like the idea of the black star issuant from base.

Salut, Cozyns,

Lions, naturellement, have been the principal charges discussed.
Several
versions of gold lions sejant or rampant upon sable , sable semy of
mullets
Or, and pean have been broached. Sir Kief suggested a lion's head
affronty
erased. Daniel de Lincolia counter-suggested a lion's face
(caboshed--no
neck). I personally think the lion's face (sans neck) looks too much
like
a door-knocker. Several folks have sugested keeping a pair of sable
stars
(of the Ansteorran variety) upon a gold chief or something of the
sort.
Aquilanne proferred a mullet of five greater and five lesser point
issuant
from base (which, on a sable background would, I suppose be Or).
The lion rampant is aggressively period, but I think we'd have a bitch
of a
time avoiding conflicts. The lion's head affronty allows the artists
a
certain amount of license with facial expressions.
