Nice post, Daniel. Thanks. You do have a tremendous amount to add and
your comments are invaluable. I know that its tough to deal with the
volume of suggestions that are being put forth. Thanks for all of the
knowledge and insight.

Lest people think I'm just trying to shoot things down left
and right just to be sour, I should point out a couple of
things about my comments.

I don't have data on uncommon period naming practices. You
might be able to justify "Hawk's Wander", say, or maybe not.
(In this case I *suspect* not ...) Perhaps I have implied
or said more negative things than I actually know. If so,
I'm sorry.

I can write with more confidence on armory, but even there I
can certainly err.

My intent is to just point out the common practices in
period. My personal belief is that those are better style
and better re(-)creation.

For example, if someone at Wisby were to find one (1)
example of a hot-pink paisley helm with antennae, I hope
that it wouldn't become the new fashion in the SCA (tho it
probably would), but I hope and I would encourage people to
aim for the usual and standard helms from their times and
places.
