Greetings!
Their Excellencies, Raimond Selenarktos and Mari ferch Raythen,
Baron and Baroness of Bjornsborg , welcome one and all to the Bjornsborg
Mini-tourney! The tourney begins at noon on Sunday, July 19th at
Raymond Rimkus Park, San Antonio. The tourney consists of two
alternating Rapier and Chivalric segments each lasting approximately an
hour each. A potluck feast will follow the tourney (please bring your
own steaks, chops, etc. to barbecue).
Rapier and Chivalric fighters will be the champions of their
non-fighting consorts (don't worry - a consort will be found for all!).
The consorts will provide the Mistress of the Lists with their name and
the name of their champion. The list mistress will present the consort
with four ribbons for each segment of the tourney in which their
champion participates. As the consort's champion is victorious or
defeated the number of ribbons held by the consort increases or
diminishes accordingly. The consort is responsible for reporting
victories and/or defeats to the Mistress of the List as they occur. At
the end of each segment, the consort and champion with the greatest
number of ribbons are the victors. A prize will be awarded to the
victorious Consort.
The two segments are the Grand Challenge and the Ring. During
the Grand Challenge, the consort determines who his/her champion will
fight and issues a challenge to the selected consort/champion pair.
The Ring segment takes place in a 10 ft. diameter circle. The
consort may decide if his/her champion fights to first blood, retains
wounds, or has a limited number of blows. A champion who steps out of
the circle forfeits the bout.
In addition to the consort/champion ribbons, selected nobles
will possess differently colored ribbons representing virtues. These
ribbons will be presented to champions at the noble's discretion. At
feast, each noble will announce the virtue his/her ribbon represents and
gift the holder with great word fame.
Please contact me, Lady Brianna ny Oran (Tonie Kelley) at (210)
497-3340, if you have any questions concerning the tourney.
