I'm sorry Ivar, I don't see how adding a "new level of play" (to use a
PP buzzword) is going to decrease the level of bureaucracy. Every
kingdom office and law will apply to a PP unless and until it goes
kingdom. The best that adding a principality will do is keep the same
level of bureaucracy, and that only if the regional structure
translates directly to principality structure with no additions -
unlikely at best.
That said, I agree with you and Sir Kief - a Curia is undesirable,
given the traditions of this kingdom. The Royal Peerage and the Great
Officers have, by law, not just the right but the _duty_ to advise the
Crown. I don't think that any more formal arrangement is necessary. As
well, I agree with some of the other posters who have mentioned the
entrenchment aspect - a bad Sovereign is around for six months, a bad
Curia is around for two years to forever.
Oh, lest anyone get the wrong idea, I am still against forming a
Principality in this area at this time - but I'm _really_ against
having a Curia if the PP gets rammed down my throat.
