SR - Highland Games

This weekend, on May 8, from 9am till 5pm, the 28th annual Houston Highland
Games and Scottish Festival will be held at the Farm and Ranch Club, at Hwy
6, just north of I-10 in west Houston.  The cost for adults is $8., $6 for
seniors and teens, and kids under 12 are free.

Shopping of Scottish goods, tracing Scottish names with the geneologists,
sampling Scottish meat pies (hey Neassa! check it out!).   There will be
dancers, bagpippers, competition bands in performance.  Athletic
competitions include caber toss, stone throw, hammer throw and sheath toss.
Dance competitions will be on the Highland fling, the sword dance, the
Seann Truibhas, and the Strathspey and Half Tulloch.    The event will be
held rain or shine.  Proceeds to benefit the Tx. Children's Hospital and
scholarships for students concentrating in Scottish fine arts.   Looks like
