Greetings, my good and true fellow Ansteorrans:

It's after 3 pm on Friday. So far, I've seen one (that's right, one) reply on
either the Coastal or Southern list, and that was from Sir Timotheus promoting
the event. That leads me to believe that no team (other than the Stargate/Loch
team) is actively planning to come. I'm not saying that nobody is planning to
show up; just that apparently no *team* is making the effort to prepare in
advance, since none have responded to my post. Since that's the case, I'm not
going to ask my teammates to plan for Sunday morning, either. If they're there
anyway and find they have someone to train against, that'll be great! But I'm
not going to ask anyone to make a special trip Sunday morning for a practice
that sounds like isn't going to happen.
I'm not trying to put a damper on anybody's enthusiasm, I'm just trying to avoid
a repeat of last weekend. Some of my teammates made the trip out to our site
last Sunday morning for the express purpose of training for war, only to find
that we had only ourselves to train against. That's ok; but we can do that on
Tuesday nights, without making a special trip.
Have a fun event anyway (really!). Maybe we can figure out how to stir up
interest in a Sunday morning melee practice at some future event. I think it's a
great idea; we're already there with our arms and armor, all we have to do is
put off packing up the tent for a couple of hours Sunday morning. Evidently I
just haven't figured out how best to promote these practices, and (more
especially) how to get others to *plan* to attend them.
Yours in service,
Michael Silverhands
