Steel, of course ;-) Charcoal, or maybe coal, or maybe propane,
depending if I can bring my forge, or whose forge we can use (I have
access to at least 3 other than mine).. Would have to look into the
tool situation- I'm thinking rivets would be the best bet for holding
the hooks on.

Steel stock will depend on how big you want it. I can usually get it
here pretty inexpensively. And, I suspect I'd better discuss a design
with Johan, Johann, and maybe Danr and Rocky.

But, for starters, how big are you wanting it, and how much weight do
you expect it to handle? You said you wanted it smaller than the one
we saw a picture of, so I need a height and width.

Ain't Chirurgeoning any more, after the Pennsic Clusterfunction, so I
should have the time, and it would be a good project to involve my
apprentices in.

Likely, though, a couple afternoons will be needed, at least,
considering how long it takes to get people in one spot and organized.

Heat it up
Hit it hard
Repent as necessary.

It's the smith who makes the tools, not the tools which make the smith.
