[Stargate] New to the Area

Actually that area is not too good.  Not as bad as the worst part of town,
but definitely not even in the top 10 areas I'd suggest.  I hope you aren't
locked into a lease now.  I'd check with the apartment locators in Houston
and see what they can find in your price range.  I know there's a nice place
called Vanderbilt Apartments on Kuykendahl.  You can check with them at
13110 Kuykendahl Rd, Houston, TX 77090 Phone number (281) 580-0511.

I know that apartment complex because a friend of mine lived there.

Welcome to Stargate, Irina!

There are "nice" areas and "not-so-nice" areas all over town.  Without
spending some time there, it is sometimes hard to tell which category an
area falls into.  The area you are talking about will probably be OK, but,
you are going to be hearing lots of jet traffic overhead.  Many people tend
to avoid living in that area for that reason.  My advice would be, if you
haven't already signed a lease, look the area over good when you get here.
If you don't like what you see, don't sign!  In any case it might be a good
idea to limit yourself to a 6-month lease until you know you will like the
place.

Starting in April, Stargate's Populace Meetings will be held in the parish
hall at Hope Episcopal Church,
1613 W 43rd St.,   Houston, Texas 77018, on the first Monday, at 7:30pm.

There are several major events in this area in April, including Guardian of
the Gauntlet, and Stargate Baronial.  Our website,
http://stargate.ansteorra.org/, will have more info on these events soon!
Don't expect too much until after Gulf Wars though.

Feel free to call me if I can do anything to help.  I think most of the
other officers are going to Gulf Wars.

My apartment when I first get there is just south of
the Airport, off 59 and near the Sam Houston Parkway
and Aldine Bender Road.  Is this still a decent area?
