[Stargate] To Middle Eastern drummers and dancers...

Greetings to Middle Eastern Drummers and Dancers in the  
Stargate/GatesEdge/Ravensfort/Loch Soillier Area!


I am a intermediate/beginner level drummer in the Stargate/GatesEdge area.  I've 
been dabbling with drumming for a couple of years, I've decided I want to get 
serious about Middle Eastern drumming, but am finding it difficult to get in 
enough practice because I can't find anyone to practice with on a regular basis. 


I am a good musician and learn fast in a group environment.  I played trombone 
from 5th grade through 2 years of college and was 1st chair most of that time.  
I was also 1st chair trombone in the Houston All-City Orchestra during my Junior 
and Senior years in High School (Class of '76).  More recently, I played bass 
guitar and did some vocals in a garage band for ten years.  I am most interested 
in the bass rhythms underlying Middle Eastern music, and, once I  have that part 
of a rhythm down, am quite capable of maintaining a basic beat for others to go 
wandering off playing with.  I don't usually try to experiment with 
embellishments until I am certain I fully understand the basic rhythm and have 
solid support from others.

If there is anyone out there in the Greater Stargate area who is interested in 
drumming on a regular basis, say, once a week or every other week if possible, 
please let me know.  I would be willing to travel up to 30 minutes or so each 
way if need be.

Or, I would be willing to have practices at my house if there is enough 
interest. I live off of SH249 near Breen.  Dancers would, of course be welcome 
also, as my wife, HE Gwendolen McIver, is a dancer and would enjoy the chance to 
interact with other dancers.
