[Stargate] Instructions for the Polling Process for the Baronial Succession

Greetings,

I am honored to be conducting the polling for the next Nobility of
Stargate. Here some notes about the polling process which were discussed at
the October Populace meeting.

First, there are a few things to remember about the polling process.
-Baronial pollings are not a democratic vote and do not necessarily
determine who will be chosen for a position.
-Pollings provide a way for the Crown to hear and consider the opinions of
the populace on the matter of Baronial succession. -The Crown considers
many factors when choosing new Landed Nobility, including the results of
the polling.
-Corpora states “The barony‘s opinion on the matter must be requested and
received in writing, and the appointments must not be substantially opposed
by the populace of the barony.” However, this still leaves the Crown with
substantial leeway.

Second, few ground rules for this process:
· There should be no discussion of candidates on Baronial email lists,
forums, or social media sites. Updates to and questions about the polling
process, of course, are permitted, but discussion about candidates and
platforms, etc. are prohibited. This applies to ALL (not just the
candidates) and is to encourage a clean and friendly selection process.
· All polling forms will be collected and verified. How people vote will be
held in the highest confidence. No candidates will see the filled out
polling forms.
· Members and non-members will be allowed to poll. Ansteorra also permits
people who live outside of the Barony to be polled. All ballots will be
categorized by membership and residence.

Those unable to attend the polling will have the opportunity to participate
via other means as necessary. Absentee ballots will be made available for
unable to attend the polling at the November populace. If you need an
absentee ballot, please contact me at brianoftheloch at gmail.com and I will
send you a ballot. Absentee ballots will be sent following the November 6th
populace. The ballots must be turned in no later than 11:59 pm on Tuesday,
November 7th in order to be counted.

If you have commentary to give the Crown other than your polling form,
please contact the crown directly.
