The verifications and proofs required had better be stringent. It's
all too easy for the unscrupulous to fake this sort of thing. Forgery
is an ancient art (many Anglo-Saxon legal documents are later
forgeries) and is more common than ever in today's electronic age.
Admittedly, it's a problem that's not likely to crop up much in the
SCA, since there's little to no money involved, but the problem still
exists. That's why I'd prefer to remain with physical signatures.
