For the SCA dates-of-the-Period purists (600 to 1600) out there, ignore the
following post. ;-)

Please note:
"Macbeth" was presented in 1606, totally out of Period for SCA purists whose
world died in 1600, thereby missing out on "Macbeth," "The Tragedy of Antony
and Cleopatra" (1607-8), "The Tragedy of Coriolanus" (1607-9) "The Winter's
Tale" (1610-11) and "The Tempest" (1611) [Dates according to G. B.
Harrison's editing of "Shakespeare: Major Plays and the Sonnets" NY:
Harcourt,Brace & Co. @1948]
Pity. They miss some really good works...not to mention the King James
translation of the Bible in 1611. (giggle) ;-)

The information:
IFC, a cable channel, is showing at three different times this Saturday,
December 20th, the English-subtitled Japanese movie, "Throne of Blood."

Background:
Presented in 1957, "Throne of Blood" is a "Macbeth"-themed story of a
Japanese samurai. The star is Toshiro Mifume, now deceased, who did about
130 movies, some for the American audience, in his lifetime. One of his
other Japanese movies was "Seven Samurai," on which a popular American
gunslinger movie, starring Yul Brenner, was based.

Poster's musings:
It would seem that war tactics of the era could have been the same the world
over, much like the saying, "Those who do not remember the past are
condemned to relive it, " or somesuch quote...I don't remember who said it.
